DAY 5

We woke up to the sound of the fire crackling. After a long night sleep pancakes were the perfect start to the day. It was our project day and Pj and Eddie drove down to our camp site and we began our projects. Digging, digging and more digging with building for desert. It was a rewarding day plumbing the showers and starting the new toilet block as well as building toilet seats and doors. We all got the opportunity to talk to Pj and Eddie which provided a new prospective on indigenous culture. For example learning about bush medication and tasting herbs which we would normally mistake for weeds. We also tried green ants which tasted very sour. After finishing the project we cooled off in the river and prepared for reflection. Our reflection was very much based on our interactions with the indigenous people so far and there challenges or problems. Sitting around the fire we had dinner and were pleased with Eddie’s arrival. Eddie told us stories and taught us about the history of Buru.
