DAY 6

The boys woke up with full of life after being energised by some amazing Bacon and Eggs. Following this we were greeted by Eddie who gave us an introduction to our morning tasks. While listening to Eddies introduction, the boys were frightened by the discovery of a snake skin. In the aftermath, we headed down to the river to collect stones and sticks for the rock hammers we were going to make. Eddie explained during the introduction that the rock hammers were used in Buru as a universal tool. We came back from the river and started making our rock hammers. It was interesting to observe the way the rock hammers were made. It was surprising to find out that the rock hammers only had 3 objects that were required. Once we finished up the stone axes we had nachos for lunch. Just after lunch we were treated to more time to ask Eddie some questions. After having a quick swim CJ came down to pick us up and take us all up to his place. We were treated to a loaf of damper made in CJs fire pit. CJ’s house was something special, with a forest entry in his backyard. Using the same entry we went on a marvellous rainforest walk where CJ showed us trees where warriors were tested and rocks which where used for cracking bush nuts. After our insightful walk we return to camp to cook and enjoyed a chicken Alfredo. Followed by a small group reflection where we talked about our experiences, what is different to a preconceived thoughts and how we felt mentally, physically and spiritually.
After a big day we go to bed tired and ready for the next big day.
